On an official visit in Ivory Coast, on the occasion of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and the implementation of the AGORA program in Kenya, Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports, Hon. Ababu Namwamba visited the commune of Abobo on Wednesday, February 7th, specifically at the AGORA.
Accompanied by the Ambassador of France in Côte d’Ivoire and the Mayor of Abobo, Kandia Camara, the Kenyan sports leader was there to observe the local situation firsthand.
“I am grateful to President Alassane Ouattara and the Ivorian people for the flawless organization of the AFCON. As you know, my country will host the AFCON in 2027. Therefore, I am here in Côte d’Ivoire to learn from their example,” he stated. He regarded it as the best-organized CAN ever.
Mayor Kandia Camara commended Kenya for its humility and emphasized the importance of South-South cooperation. “We have experiences to share. All countries should exchange their insights,” she expressed. She also praised President Alassane Ouattara for his efforts in making the Ivorian dream a reality.
“We hope for a great victory for the Elephants of Ivory Coast. AFCON 2023 is hosted in Ivory Coast, and the cup should remain here,” Kandia Camara remarked, also acknowledging the strong cooperation between Ivory Coast and France.
Following the first half of the Nigeria – South Africa match, Kandia Camara and her guests proceeded to the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Ebimpé to witness the Ivory Coast – DRC match.
