The inauguration of the Port-Bouët Agora at Anani Roundabout took place on Wednesday, January 10, 2024. The event was attended by Mr. Adama Doumbia, representing Mr. Adje Silas Metch, Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister for Sports and Living Environment, and Jean-Christophe Belliard, the French Ambassador to Côte d’Ivoire.
Just two days before the 2023 Ivory Coast CAN, the local community of Port-Bouët witnessed the long-awaited opening of their Agora. Spanning five hectares, this recreational and sports hub promises to cater to various age groups, promoting active lifestyles and community engagement.
The Agora initiative aims to instill positive lifestyle changes and enhance accessibility to sports facilities. Designed for inclusivity, it offers multifunctional sports fields capable of hosting diverse events, from sports tournaments to cultural performances.
Mr. Doumbia Adama, on behalf of the Minister Delegate for Sports and Living Environment, expressed gratitude to the French partners for their contribution to the quality infrastructure.
Mayor Dr. Emmou Sylvestre shared his pride in the project, emphasizing its alignment with the municipality’s socio-sports initiatives, which have already led to the establishment of six multisport fields for youth.
The mayor encouraged community members to embrace the Agora, which will host a “Fan Zone” during the 2023 CAN.
Simultaneously, the inauguration of the Yopougon Agora on the same day brought further joy to the local population. Covering three hectares, this complex offers a range of sports facilities and cultural spaces.
